Wet Utilities

Water Supply Lines, Sewage & Wastewater Systems, & Stormwater Management

Critical Wet Infrastructure

Regardless of the Wet Utilities Installation needs, be it water supply lines, sewage and wastewater systems, or stormwater management systems, we work with developers and contractors to ensure these systems are installed properly for the areas they serve.

Our Process

Planning & Design

  • Utility Assessment: Understanding the water supply, sewage, and stormwater management needs of the property based on its size, occupancy, and local regulations.

  • Engineering Design: Creating detailed plans for the layout of water mains, sewer lines, manholes, and drainage systems, considering factors like elevation, soil conditions, and environmental impact.

  • Permitting and Approval: Obtaining necessary permits and approvals from local regulatory agencies before starting construction.

Trenching & Excavation

  • Route Planning: Mapping out the paths for water and sewer lines, ensuring they follow property lines and avoid obstacles like existing utilities or tree roots.

  • Excavation: Digging trenches to accommodate underground pipes and conduits for water supply, sewage, and drainage systems, typically using heavy machinery like backhoes or excavators.

Pipe Installation

  • Water Supply Lines: Laying underground pipes to transport potable water from the municipal water system or well to the property, typically made of PVC, ductile iron, or copper.

  • Sewer Lines: Installing pipes to carry wastewater from sinks, toilets, and drains to the municipal sewer system or septic tank, using materials like PVC, cast iron, or clay.

  • Drainage Systems: Placing pipes or culverts to manage stormwater runoff, directing it away from buildings and towards retention ponds or municipal storm sewers.

Manhole & Access Installation

  • Manholes: Constructing access points along sewer lines for maintenance and inspection, typically made of precast concrete or brick and equipped with covers for safety.

  • Cleanouts: Installing cleanout points at strategic locations along sewer lines to facilitate clearing of blockages and maintenance activities.

Connection & Testing

  • Utility Connections: Joining individual pipes and fittings using appropriate methods like welding, gluing, or mechanical couplings, ensuring watertight seals.

  • Pressure Testing: Conducting pressure tests on water supply lines to identify leaks and ensure they can withstand normal operating pressures.

  • Smoke Testing: Introducing non-toxic smoke into sewer lines to detect leaks and points of infiltration, ensuring the system is properly sealed.

Backfilling & Site Restoration

  • Backfilling: Refilling trenches with soil or aggregate material, compacting it in layers to provide support and stability to underground pipes.

  • Surface Restoration: Restoring disturbed areas of the property, such as landscaping or pavement, to their original condition or as required by local regulations.
